Walt Disney World is expecting to resume operations Tuesday after it dodged a direct hit from Hurricane Irma.
Disney closed its theme parks during the hurricane Sunday and Monday while its resort hotels remained open.
“We hope to resume normal operations on Tuesday, September 12,” Disney said on its website Monday.

Orlando’s theme parks missed the worst of Irma as it tracked west of the popular tourist destination Sunday. Disney World did not experience any power outages, but was hit with high winds and rain that caused downed trees across its properties. Some of the resort’s buildings saw water leaks, according to multiple social media postings.
According to Twitter postings, electric transformers near Disney’s Contemporary Resort exploded.
Parking areas for Disney’s Orlando-area resorts have served as staging areas for electrical repair teams and utility crews seeking to restore power to the region.
Disney World has only closed four times in its history due to hurricanes. It last closed in 2005 due to Hurricane Matthew.
