Live

Former President Donald Trump is in Miami, Florida, today for a “Save America” rally ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections.

Trump, who has been touring the country in recent days, will appear alongside Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), who is facing a re-election fight against Democrat Val Demings. RealClearPolitics ranks that particular race as Leaning Republican, and expects a GOP hold.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), will also be in attendance among other Republican lawmakers. Notable for his absence is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is holding competing rallies in the Sunshine State and is anticipated to be Trump’s stiffest competition in the 2024 Republican primary. Trump jokes about microphone issue at ‘Greatest rally we’ve ever had’

A brief microphone hiccup couldn’t dampen Trump’s spirits, as he declared the Florida crowd was the “greatest rally we’ve ever had.”

During a segment in which Trump read from prepared remarks about the dire state of the country, against the backdrop of ominous-sounding music, his voice briefly grew faint.

Trump was rattling off a bevy of grievances with the state of U.S. politics and shrugged off the microphone snafu, joking that the mic couldn’t keep up with him.

“Isn’t this the greatest rally we’ve ever had,” he asked the crowd once the microphone came back online.

Earlier during his riffing of grievances, he threw shade at President Joe Biden, noting that it was difficult for him to read the prepared remarks.

“And it’s lucky I have a great memory because I could not see a word of this,’ Trump told the crowd. “You think Biden would be able to [do this]?”

GOP will come roaring back to power, Trump declares

Republicans are on the precipice of ending Democratic rule in Washington, D.C., Trump declared during his rally.

“This is a year we are going to take back the House. We’re going to take back the Senate. We’re going to take back America,” he proclaimed. “Most importantly, we’re going to take back that big beautiful magnificent White House. We’re going to take it back.”

Trump then rattled off a litany of achievements Republicans will usher in upon their return to power such as forestalling illegal immigration, safeguarding parental rights in the classroom, rejuvenating the economy,

“Despite great outside dangers. our biggest threat remains the sick and sinister and evil people from within our country and you know who they are. But no matter how big or powerful, the corrupt radical left Democrats that we are fighting against — you must never forget that this nation does not belong to them, this nation belongs to you,” Trump declared in a battle cry to his rally goers.

Then, with ominous music playing in the background, Trump turned dark about the bleak outlook he sees for the U.S. under current Democratic control.

“We are a nation in decline and we are failing nation. We are a nation that has the highest inflation and 50 years, where the stock market finish the worst first half of the year, since 1872,” he warned.

“It would never have happened with me as your commander in chief,” he later added.

Trump apologizes to his son for jail threat

Returning to his gripes with the Russia investigation, former President Trump issued an apology to his son, Donald Trump Jr. for getting him tangled up “in this mess.”

“Sorry. These are bad people. These are very dangerous people. And I also apologize to you because I got you into this mess,’ Trump told Trump Jr. during the rally.

His rare apology came after he torched Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), whom he admonished as a “bad human being” and “very unattractive guy physically.”

“This guy Schiff, they made up a story. It was a fake story. They all know it. And he [talks] about a fine young guy named Don Trump Jr.,” Trump recounted. “He gets up to the mic and he said Donald Trump Jr, the son of the President of the United States will be going to jail for what he did with Russia.”

Trump underscored that many of his policies such as pressuring Germany to forestall development of Nord Stream II were detrimental to Russia.

Trump alludes to Matt Gaetz’s scandal

While making introductory remarks about Republican politicians in attendance at the rally, Trump briefly alluded to Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) scandals.

“It was terrible the way you get treated. He’s so tough. He’s so strong. And everybody said whether he’s smart and he loves his state and he loves his country, Matt Gaetz,” Trump quipped. “And we apologize on behalf of the country all of us because what you went through is just terrible and so unnecessary.”

Gaetz, a conservative firebrand in the House, was reportedly receiving scrutiny from investigators involved in a sex trafficking inquiry. The investigation has since stalled, according to NBC. Prosecutors have also reportedly recommended against charges.

‘Will probably have to do it again’: Trump teases 2024

While lamenting the state of the United States’s domestic affairs, Trump teased that he may have to “do it again,” alluding to a presidential run.

“Why would anybody stand for what the Democrats have done to the Hispanic community. The election was rigged,” he said. “Now our country is being destroyed. I ran twice. I won twice and I did much better the second time than I did the first.”

He proclaimed: “In order to make our country successful safe and glorious, I will probably have to do it again.”

Trump has long teased a 2024 stint and is reportedly eyeing a debut shortly after the midterm elections on Tuesday.

Trump says McConnell needs to be ‘tougher’, offers him to Biden

Trump appeared to offer Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to the President Joe Biden and attacked McConnell’s wife as “Coco Chao.”

“You gotta get Mitch McConnell to be a lot tougher. Mitch McConnell you can have Mitch McConnell and his wife Coco Coco. Joe, you can have them both,” Trump quipped.

Trump has previously drawn allegations of racism for using that phrase against Elaine Chao, who was born in Taiwan and served as his Secretary of Transportation.

“And he goes over to ask to help and instead of giving help they do the opposite of what he asks. That didn’t happen with me,” Trump continued, implying he kept McConnell in line with conservatives in Congress.

Trump plays remix of Biden gaffes

During a riff on the “radical left” former President Donald Trump played a mashup of his successor’s greatest gaffes.

“If you just want to take five president the worst presidents in American history and put them together. They would not have done the damage Joe Biden has done to our nation and less than two short years,” Trump surmised.

The clip included moments such as President Joe Biden asking, “Where’s Jackie” during a speech. Rep. Jackie Walorski had died just weeks before.

‘This is a charade’: Trump lashes out at FBI over Mar-a-Lago

Democrats have “weaponized” the FBI and other law enforcement agencies, former President Donald Trump bemoaned during his rally.

Arguing that the Aug. 8 raid on his Mar-a-Lago home amounted to a violation of his Fourth Amendment rights, Trump argued that the legal scrutiny he weathered was unlike other presidents have contended with.

“It’s a weaponization, we have a weaponized Department of Justice and a weaponized FBI including of course, the very famous raid on Mar a Lago,” he said. “[They] violated my fourth amendment rights and something that has never been done to another president.”

Trump further argued that he has been targeted because he has been a champion of the people.

“This is a charade. They failed on every one of those things that I mentioned plus many others. And this is their next weapon. These people are sick and coming after me because I’m fighting for you. That’s very simple,” he contended.

Trump dances on the political grave of Liz Cheney

Former President Donald Trump danced on the political grave of longstanding nemesis Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), taking enormous glee in her primary defeat.

“Liz Cheney lost by more votes in a great great state,” he said. “[Cheney] lost by more votes than any congressman in the history of our country lost.”

Trump had backed her rival Harriet Hageman, who ousted her in a primary. Cheney was perhaps Trump’s most unabashed GOP critic in the House, serving as the Vice Chair of the Jan. 6 committee.

“She’s got no future in politics,” he added, drawing an applause. “She lost by 40 points, the most ever.”

“She made a fool out of herself,” he continued. “By the way the father [Dick Cheney] got us into the Middle East and it should have never happened.”

Trump suggests they’d give ‘electric chair’ to people if they spied on Obama

Former President Donald Trump blasted Democrats for allegedly “spying” on his 2016 presidential campaign, before speculating about what what would’ve happened if someone spied on his predecessor Barack Obama.

“How about spying on let’s say Obama’s campaign,” he asked the crowd. “You know what they do if they got caught spying on Barack Hussein Obama’s campaign, you know what happened? They would bring out the electric chair.”

“Everybody knows they got caught and they now are actually admitting it because they have no choice,” he added. “They got nothing happens. Nothing happened. Then they lied to Congress. they lied to the FISA court. they created a fake dossier that was done and paid for by crooked Hillary Clinton the Democratic National Committee, [and[ the Democrat Party.”

Crowd chants Trump won after 2020 riff

The boisterous crowd got riled up during Trump’s discussion about the 2020 election, chanting “Trump won.”

Trump repeated his longstanding and heavily disputed contention that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

“The 2020 presidential election in Pennsylvania was riddled with ballots that should never have been counted,” he said. “Big things that took place in 2020 presidential election, Pennsylvania, were not allowed. They weren’t allowed to do it. Now they did it anyway.”

Shortly after a tangent on the 2020 election, Trump circled back to his claim that the Democrats have taking a communist turn.

“I don’t say socialist any more. The socialist, communist, Marxist direction of the radical Democrat Party is one of the biggest reasons that Hispanic Americans are joining our movement by the millions,” he said, before asking how many hispanics were in attendance.

Trump surprises crowd with early start to rally

Former President Donald Trump kicked off his rally in Florida ahead of schedule Sunday. He is in Miami to stump for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), his former 2016 political foe.

Meanwhile, his potential 2024 presidential primary foe, Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to hold a dueling campaign event in Hillsborough County, near Tampa Sunday for his reelection.

During a rally Saturday, Trump took a shot at DeSantis, dubbing him “DeSanctimonious.” Trump is speculated to being eyeing his 2024 presidential debut after the midterm elections.

DeSantis has been one of his strongest GOP primary rivals in polling. Last month, DeSantis bucked Trump by backing Colorado Senate hopeful Joe O’Dea, who has publicly disparaged Trump.
