Washington Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth is expected to turn himself in this week to face a simple assault charge after an alleged road rage incident in Reston. Fairfax County police spokeswoman Shelley Broderick said the altercation occurred Wednesday morning, when a 38-year-old man driving a Honda Civic thought a man driving a pickup truck on the Fairfax County Parkway was tailgating. The Civic driver made a “non-verbal hand gesture,” Broderick said, and when the cars stopped at red light, the pickup driver — who police say was Haynesworth — got out of his vehicle and reportedly assaulted the other driver. The player’s agent said that’s not how it went. “Albert did not assault this man and looks forward to his day in court to refute these ridiculous allegations,” said Chad Speck.
