Biden campaign launches account on social media platform owned by Trump

President Joe Biden‘s campaign has launched its own account on Truth Social, the social media platform owned by former President Donald Trump.

The account, Biden-Harris HQ, made its first post early Monday afternoon. On X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Biden-Harris HQ stated that it set up the account on Truth Social “mostly because we thought it would be very funny.

“Well. Let’s see how this goes. Converts welcome!” the post read.


Trump has used the platform to issue statements online after he was banned from multiple social media accounts. Many of those platforms, including X, Facebook, and Instagram, have since reversed their bans on the former president.

Trump and Biden could end up competing against each other again in the 2024 presidential election. Both candidates are currently the lead candidates in the primary races for the respective parties.

While most Democrats have largely ignored Truth Social, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) started his own account on it last year. The governor said he was starting the account to call out “Republican lies.”
