Six Islamic State supporters arrested in California, Minnesota

Six men were arrested Sunday in Minnesota and California for allegedly supporting the Islamic State, according to law enforcement sources.

Most of the arrests were in Minneapolis, while a relative of one the men was arrested in San Diego. The men were apparently members of the Somali community, though authorities said the case is under seal and will offer more information in a press conference sometime Monday.

“There was no danger,” one of the officials stressed, saying the men were not suspected of plotting any terror attacks inside the U.S.

Minnesota’s Somali community is the largest in the United States. According to local community workers, terror groups such as the Islamic State, al Qaeda and al-Shabab have been recruiting young men from it for some time.
