Mullins and Farnam try standup at NPF Awards

Hundreds of hacks, flacks and media supporters came out to celebrate journalistic achievement at the 28th Annual National Press Foundation Awards Dinner at the Hilton Washington on Tuesday night. Reporters Brody Mullins and T.W. Farnam were recognized for their reporting on congressional travel for the Wall Street Journal. They were also awarded the 2010 Dirksen Awards for Distinguished Coverage of Congress along with CNN senior congressional correspondent Dana Bash. During their acceptance speech, which Mullins and Farnam delivered together, they thanked the mayor who provided them with transportation for the evening and, at a failed attempt at humor, took jabs at conservative reporters. Luckily, their reporting is better than their standup.

NPR.org, Bloomerg News’ Albert Hunt, National Geographic Society’s Gilbert Grosvenor, the Tennessean’s Mark Silverman, Politico’s Matt Wuerker, the Washington Post’s Peter Whoriskey and NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell were also honored for their excellence.
