Nancy Pelosi on Democratic candidates who oppose her: ‘We just want to win’

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., says she is not bothered by Democratic candidates calling for leadership change at the top, saying repeatedly that Democrats just want to take back the House.

“We just want to win,” Pelosi said when asked again about Democratic candidates vowing to vote against her if they’re elected.

Asked if the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee should put candidates who don’t support her on their coveted Red to Blue list, Pelosi said she’s just concerned with winning. Candidates on the list receive fundraising and other support from the DCCC.

“When I’m not in the Capitol, I’m someplace else raising money to elect those very people,” Pelosi said.

A growing number of candidates have said they want leadership changes, but many have stopped short of saying they will vote against Pelosi for leader if they’re elected. The recent defeat of Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley, D-N.Y., has raised more questions about a possible leadership scramble after November. Crowley was considered the most likely member to either succeed or challenge Pelosi.
