Trump: ‘Little doubt’ that FBI will indict Clinton

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Sunday that it was a certainty that this rival, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, would be indicted for federal crimes regarding her use of a private email server while secretary of state. Trump said FBI Director James Comey’s decision last week to reopen a previously closed investigation was proof of that.

“There is little doubt that FBI Director Comey and the great special agents within the FBI will be able to collect more than enough evidence to garner indictments against Hillary Clinton and her inner circle despite her effort to disparage and discredit the FBI,” Trump told an audience during a campaign stop at Sioux City, Iowa.

“If she were to win, it would create an unprecedented constitutional crisis. In that situation, we could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and, ultimately, a criminal trial. Just today, we learned Hillary Clinton was sending highly classified information through her maid … who therefore had total access to this information, completely jeopardizing the national security of the United States,” he said.

Comey told the Senate last week that an investigation into former New York congressman Anthony Weiner, husband of Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin, turned up additional emails possibly related to the Democratic nominee. He said that required him to reopen a inquiry into whether Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state violated federal law. Comey had closed the investigation in July, recommending that no charges be brought.

Trump did not profess any inside information regarding this. He simply asserted that it was certain to happen.

He warned that Clinton’s current scandals and controversies would continue throughout her presidency should she get elected.
