Newly installed House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has helped to set a new Republican fundraising record — while breaking his personal best.
His office on Thursday said that the old high of $31.5 million raised by McCarthy in the first quarter of 2022 was topped by $35 million raised in the first quarter of 2023.

“When we took back the House majority we promised to follow through on our Commitment to America, get our nation back on track, and hold the Biden administration accountable,” McCarthy said in a statement shared with Secrets and released by the McCarthy Victory Fund, his joint political operation.

“We have kept our word. Our united conference is changing Congress for the better and the American people are taking notice. I want to thank our supporters for their historic generosity as we begin our mission to expand the House Republican majority in 2024,” he said.

A sizable chunk of the money, $7 million, was transferred to the National Republican Congressional Committee, the House GOP’s campaign arm.
Another $4.5 million was divided up among House Republican incumbents.
