Baby girl named after plane that evacuated her Afghan parents

A baby girl born on a U.S. Air Force evacuation flight was named Reach after the plane’s call sign, a U.S. general said Wednesday.

The child was born to Afghan parents on an American C-17 flying from Qatar to Ramstein Air Base in Germany, said U.S. European Command head Gen. Tod Wolters.

“As you can well imagine, being an Air Force fighter pilot, it’s my dream to watch that young child called Reach grow up to be a U.S. citizen and fly United States Air Force fighters in our Air Force,” he added.
