Fox News ratings in July make history after 49 straight months as top-watched cable network

Fox News Channel notched its most successful July in history this year, continuing its streak as the nation’s most-watched cable news network.

Fox finished the month of July as the most-watched cable network in both total day and prime-time total viewers, an accomplishment that marks 49 months in a row in the top spot across all of cable in total day viewers, the network said.

The record-breaking ratings were powered by the network’s prime-time lineup, featuring shows hosted by pundits Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham.

Hannity had nearly 4.1 million viewers in July, making his show the most-watched cable news program in the country this month. Carlson came in a close second place with 4,020,000 overall viewers. Nielsen ratings show that both programs marked six consecutive months of averaging over 4 million viewers overall.

The top five cable news programs for the month of July were as follows: Hannity (4,096,000), Tucker Carlson Tonight (4,020,000), The Ingraham Angle (3,415,000), The Rachel Maddow Show (3,339,000), The Five (3,307,000).

President Trump has been critical of Fox News for what he says is incorrect polling or negative coverage of him.

“I’m not happy with Fox at all,” Trump said during an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network in late June. “My base hates what Fox News is doing. … Fox News wants to be politically correct all of a sudden. … Roger Ailes would never have let this happen.”
