New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo plans to publish a book on his response to the coronavirus pandemic in New York.
Crown Publishing Group announced on Tuesday that it would publish Cuomo’s upcoming book, titled American Crisis, on Oct. 13. The book is described as an “urgent assessment of the factors that have and continue to impede our national response.”
“A revealing, behind-the-scenes account of his experience leading New York State through the COVID-19 epidemic, American Crisis is an important chronicle of this unprecedented moment in history, an urgent assessment of the factors that have and continue to impede our national response to a devastating health and economic catastrophe, and a powerful testament to true leadership in times of extreme crisis,” read a description of the book.

Spectrum News reported that it’s unclear how much Cuomo is being paid in a book advance but that he is being represented by Robert Barnett, who helped the Democratic governor negotiate a high-six figure advance for his 2014 memoir All Things Possible.
Cuomo used his appearance during the first night of the Democratic National Convention Monday to decry President Trump’s coronavirus response and rhetoric during the pandemic. However, New York has been ravaged by the pandemic and is the state with the most deaths.
According to the New York Department of Health, over 425,900 state residents have tested positive for COVID-19, and over 32,000 people have died. New reports indicate that the coronavirus death rate in New York nursing homes may also be much higher than previously understood, with estimates growing from 6,000 to 11,000.
