Kirstie Alley doubles down on accusing CNN of ‘broadcasting fear’ over coronavirus

Actress Kirstie Alley reiterated that CNN is ginning up fear in its viewers regarding the coronavirus, accusing the network of “broadcasting terror.”

“You know, and they even got that wrong when [CNN] attacked Veronica’s Closet, not even good ratings. I mean, it was in the top 10, so all they had to do was Google that. But here’s the weird thing: I’m like the poster girl for COVID correctness. I wear a mask,” Alley told Fox News’s Tucker Carlson on Sunday evening.

Alley was referring to a tweet she issued last month that criticized CNN for spreading fear over the coronavirus. The network’s communications team hit back with a personal attack on her show from the late 1990s, called Veronica’s Closet.

“If they were coming up with new preventatives, I’d be happy to listen, you know, or God forbid, we come up with any new — what are they called — therapeutics,” Alley continued on Fox News. “But they shoot ’em all down.”

“You’re making such a rational point. … Here you are, you’re doing what you asked. You’re not coughing on anyone in elevators,” Carlson said. “Why are they doing this?”

“Why are they saying that about me? Or why are they broadcasting terror?” Alley asked.

“Nicely put. Why are they broadcasting terror?” Carlson responded.

She responded that she believes it’s a deflection from Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign.

“We all know, we’re not deaf, you know, we can hear, and we can see. Just because we’re voting Republicans does not mean that we can’t hear or see,” she continued. “We know there is this death count, but it’s like they want to stand in the town square and bring out the dead, bridge out the dead, and they act like we aren’t affected.”

“I’m just saying what good does it do anyone if you provoke terror, if it makes people commit suicide or not go to the doctor? If they have a different thing like cancer, God forbid, or pneumonia, God forbid, they won’t show up at the hospital because they are afraid of getting COVID. I like the hopefulness with the report,” she added.

Alley is an outspoken supporter of President Trump, which put her on the receiving end of attacks from others in Hollywood.

“They always attack the same three things: that I’m a fat, irrelevant Scientologist,” Alley told Fox News’s Sean Hannity last month.

“But, this has been going on for 40 years, so I’m sort of prepared,” Alley added. “That really is basically all they have to offer, so I honestly don’t take it too personally because I feel that people are angry, and they have the right to say what they want to say, and I have the right to block them if I don’t like the way they speak.”

Trump has also addressed Alley’s support.

“I think she’s great, and I’ve always liked her. I just think she’s got courage, you know. She’s Hollywood. She did very well in Hollywood,” Trump said. “I think she’s great, and I think she has great hair.”
