Is Washington fashionable? Maybe.

But more importantly: Are you fashionable?

You might find out in the next issue of Washington Life, which we got a sneak peak at. It includes five local “fashion mavens” who handpick some of D.C.’s most stylish folks.

The judges: TVLand’s Paul Wharton, stylist Lana Orloff, Hu Shoes’ Marlene Hu, PRatPartners’ James Cornwell and T.H.E. Artist Agency’s Lynda Erkiletian.

The winners: From the “classic” category, you can expect to see the judges praise the fashion of first lady Laura Bush, CityBridge Foundation’s Katherine Bradley and the Kuwaiti ambassador’s wife, Rima Al Sabah.

But there are some new folks who get singled out for style, including fashionable couples Gwen and Stuart Holliday, and Maria Chiara Ferrari and Luca Ferrari.

And, because fashion is all about the next big thing, the issue also includes some trendsetters: the owner of the Napoleon and Bonaparte restaurants, Omar Popal; model Katie Rost; and interior designer Dabney Doswell.

Executive Editor Michael Clements told us, “We think Washington is a stylish city, and we want to celebrate that.”

But Editor-in-Chief Nancy Bagley was slightly more direct. “And they look hot.”
