James Carville raves about ‘perfect day’ for Democrats following Biden DNC speech and Steve Bannon’s arrest

Thursday was a “perfect day” for Democrats in the United States, according to Democratic strategist James Carville.

Carville lauded the acceptance speech delivered by Joe Biden and said it was the ideal ending to a day that began with news that former Trump adviser Steve Bannon had been arrested for his role in an alleged fraudulent border wall fundraising scheme.

“I thought this was a perfect day. It started with the president’s chief strategist arrested on a 150-foot yacht for fleecing poor people, and it ended with Vice President Biden saying, ‘God bless the troops,'” Carville said on MSNBC.

“And I think what he showed tonight was, and he was very clear, he wants to be president of all America, not the base. And I thought that was the real contrast. I really did. […] But I think today is a very instructive day in where America is. I really do. And I thought the speech was above all — it was really solid. And I think that’s what the country is looking for is just some solidness. Just to knock on that door and know somebody is there. He did a really good job on that,” he added.

Bannon was arrested on Thursday morning along with three other men who managed “We Build the Wall,” an online fundraiser that vowed to self-fund the construction of a southern border wall without paying its founders. Authorities accused the four men of defrauding donors by paying themselves. Bannon pleaded not guilty to his charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Biden accepted the Democratic nomination in a speech that was considered to be a success by many political pundits. Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace said that Biden’s speech “blew a hole” in the Trump campaign’s claims that the former vice president is frail or senile.
