Greene responds to colleague’s Equality Act fight with ‘two genders’ sign

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene displayed a sign reading, “There are two genders,” outside of her office in response to Rep. Marie Newman hanging a transgender flag outside her office.

“Our neighbor, @RepMarieNewman, wants to pass the so-called ‘Equality’ Act to destroy women’s rights and religious freedoms,” Greene tweeted on Wednesday, accompanied by a video of her posting a sign that reads, “There are TWO genders: MALE & FEMALE. Trust The Science.”

“Thought we’d put up ours so she can look at it every time she opens her door,” she said.

The sign comes in response to Newman tweeting a video of herself hanging a pink, blue, and white transgender flag. The two congresswomen share neighboring offices.

“Our neighbor, @RepMTG, tried to block the Equality Act because she believes prohibiting discrimination against trans Americans is ‘disgusting, immoral, and evil,’” Newman, who has a transgender daughter, tweeted earlier Wednesday.

“Thought we’d put up our Transgender flag so she can look at it every time she opens her door.”

Greene called the Equality Act, which includes “gender identity” and “sexual orientation” as classes protected under the Civil Rights Act, “a direct attack on God’s creation.”

Greene was slammed by Democratic colleagues for hanging the sign and her comments, including from Rep. Jennifer Wexton, who said, “There’s no lower low than going after someone’s kids.”

The House is set to vote on the bill Thursday, and it is expected to pass.
