Climate activists on Thursday morning dumped wheelbarrows full of manure at the White House, ahead of President Joe Biden’s climate summit with more than 40 world leaders.
The activists, affiliated with the group Extinction Rebellion, assured the Washington Examiner that the content of their wheelbarrows was actually manure, even though from afar it appeared to be tightly packed dirt. A smell test confirmed the claim. The activists dumped about 15 loads into a pile on top of which they planted a sign reading, “Stop the bulls—.”
BIDEN SETS TARGET OF CUTTING US EMISSIONS UP TO 52% BY 2030 BUT WON’T DETAIL HOW TO GET THERE
A spokesman for Extinction Rebellion explained that the action was done in protest of Biden’s plan to cut carbon emissions by 50% below 2005 levels by 2030.
“His plan to reduce carbon emissions by at least 50% by 2030, long after he’s out of office, is too little, too late,” the spokesman said of Biden. “We need net-zero carbon emissions by 2025. Anything else guarantees climate destruction and nails the coffin shut for millions across the globe.”
As the activists marched to the White House, they chanted a series of anti-Biden slogans and insulted his intelligence.
“The science is there,” one activist shouted over the White House fence. “Biden, can you do math? Why are you selling us short?”

Other activists chanted “No more bulls—!” as they dumped their wheelbarrows. Several children got in on the action too, pouring manure out of baby strollers and buckets.
Extinction Rebellion has a long history of showy climate protests, often targeting Democrats whom the group views as too centrist on environmental issues.

Biden is expected to announce his climate plan at the summit, setting an aggressive target that will remain nonbinding without congressional approval. The 50% cut goal is part of the Paris climate agreement, which Biden rejoined on his first day in office. Former President Donald Trump rejected that plan.
Other countries that also contribute to massive pollution, including China and India, are not expected to make similar announcements, which has given Republicans fodder for criticism that Biden is hurting America’s global competitiveness.
