Residents of Dallas woke up to widespread damage after powerful storms and a tornado tore through northern Texas Sunday night.
At least six people were hospitalized with storm-related injuries, although no deaths have been reported according to CBS DFW. At about 9 p.m. Sunday, Dallas County residents were told to shelter in place as the tornado touched down and moved across the area.
The storm left buildings in shambles, trees ripped apart, and homes without roofs. Power was also knocked out for about 65,000 in the area. Meteorologist Scott Padgett said that the storm may have produced winds up to 111 mph.
Photos and videos of the storm and subsequent destruction proliferated social media after the squall swept through.
