‘At least you’re not politicizing it, Juan’: The Five panel erupts over Trump handling of coronavirus

The panel of Fox News’s The Five erupted into a heated argument Monday over President Trump’s handling of the coronavirus.

“This is new to him,” co-host Greg Gutfeld said Monday, referring to the way Trump has handled the virus outbreak so far. “I think he was trying to focus on trying to quell the panic while letting the experts deal with the virus. Deeds, words. And right now, you cannot match the deeds that this administration is doing. They’re doing amazing work.”

Fellow co-host Juan Williams, a staunch Trump critic, sarcastically responded to Gutfeld by implying the president hasn’t reacted quickly enough when it comes to testing for the virus or developing a vaccine.

“Yeah, that’s why we have so many tests to find out who has it. That’s why we have a vaccine,” Williams said. “The president said the vaccine’s coming in a couple weeks. Now, we know it’s years.”

Gutfeld shot back, “Yeah, at least you’re not politicizing it, Juan.”

Co-host Jesse Watters got involved in the disagreement after Williams accused the president’s National Security Council of not being prepared to handle the virus.

“Juan, they have plenty of bureaucrats in Italy, and look what’s happening in Italy,” Watters pointed out.

“Oh, now we want to compare our government to the Italians — very good, very good,” Williams responded.

Williams also penned an op-ed for the Hill on Monday, suggesting that Trump might ultimately cancel the November election because of the virus.

“What’s next? Cancel the November election? It could come to that — because despite the power of incumbency and a passionate political base, President Trump’s political prospects are looking shaky,” Williams wrote.
