Vote count update: Biden gains in Pennsylvania but Arizona lead down to less than 12,000

Here are the latest vote counts as of midday Thursday.

ARIZONA

President-elect Joe Biden leads President Trump by 11,635 votes in Arizona, with 1,663,447 votes to Trump’s 1,651,812. An additional 17,688 ballots tallied for both candidates on Tuesday helped Trump narrow the margin by 1,178 votes.

The remaining uncounted Arizona ballots give Trump little chance of fully closing the gap. About 3,497 ballots, almost all of which are in populous Maricopa County, are ready for tabulation. Another 18,500 provisional ballots need to be processed, not all of which will be counted.

GEORGIA

Biden’s lead over Trump continued to decline slightly on Thursday, moving to 14,045 from Wednesday’s 14,112, with an estimated 99% of ballots counted. Biden now has 2,471,955 votes compared to 2,457,910 for Trump. Georgia has announced it will do a full hand recount of nearly 5 million votes cast in the presidential election.

On Thursday, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger told Fox News that he did not think the recount would find many errors. “I believe it will be a relatively small amount,” Raffensperger, a Republican, said. “I think that you will find that the machine count that we did will be fairly accurate.”

Raffensperger said Georgia chose to do a full recount rather than a limited one because the number of ballots that would have had to be pulled for a recount would have already been high. “We would have had to pull out 1.5 million ballots anyway,” he said. “It’s easier to pull out all 5 million and reach out to every single one of them.”

PENNSYLVANIA

Biden added roughly 14,000 votes to his total in Pennsylvania, bringing his lead over Trump to nearly 54,000. By Thursday morning, 3,390,729 voters in the state had cast their ballot for him, compared to 3,336,751 for Trump. The state believes it still has several hundred thousand ballots left to count.

NEVADA

In Nevada, 776 votes tabulated for both candidates Tuesday slightly widened Biden’s lead by 144 to 36,870 votes, with 671,887 votes to 635,017 for Trump. About 60,000 provisional ballots remain uncounted.

MICHIGAN

In Michigan, Biden’s lead is at 148,645. He has 50.5% of the vote compared to Trump’s 47.9%. The Trump campaign has launched a lawsuit contesting the vote count.

WISCONSIN

In Wisconsin, Biden leads by 20,539 votes, with 49.6% of the vote, compared to 48.9% for Trump. The Trump campaign has said that it will initiate a recount effort that is expected to begin late next week.
