Trump: ‘No escaping to locker rooms’ when White House celebrates national anthem

President Trump said nobody will be able to hide in the locker room when the White House celebrates America on Tuesday, which will include the playing of the national anthem.

“We will proudly be playing the National Anthem and other wonderful music celebrating our Country today at 3 P.M., The White House, with the United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus,” Trump tweeted. “Honoring America! NFL, no escaping to Locker Rooms!”

The Philadelphia Eagles were originally scheduled to meet with Trump in the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win this year. But the White House rescinded the invitation after several players said they would not attend because they oppose Trump’s position that everyone should stand for the playing of “The Star Spangled Banner.”

Trump said now that the event will celebrate America, and noted that several other teams have showed up after winning their respective championships.

“We have had many Championship teams recently at the White House including the Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros, Pittsburgh Penguins, New England Patriots, Alabama and Clemson National Champions, and many others. National Anthem & more great music today at 3:00 P.M.,” Trump posted to Twitter Tuesday morning.
