Large banner in NYC depicts de Blasio wearing Che Guevara T-shirt and holding Lady Liberty’s severed head

A banner unveiled on Staten Island depicts New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio smiling while holding the Statue of Liberty’s severed head.

“It’s what he’s doing to New York, he’s severing the head of the greatest city on earth,” artist Scott LoBaido said, according to the New York Post.

The banner was installed Tuesday over the Staten Island Expressway and shows de Blasio, a Democrat, wearing a T-shirt of Che Guevara, a Marxist, Argentine guerrilla leader, while holding Lady Liberty’s bloody head.

“New York has turned into a shithole because of this guy,” LoBaido said of the mayor. “He hates the true New Yorkers: police officers, firefighters, … people who built this city.”

The artist, who is a Trump supporter, told the New York Post he was aggravated earlier this week after painting a pro-police blue line in front of a Staten Island precinct that was vandalized with Black Lives Matter graffiti.

“That thin blue line separates anarchy from civilization,” he said.

De Blasio has come under fire in recent months as violent crimes increase in the city after he slashed the New York City Police Department budget by $1 billion.

Some fellow New York politicians have called on the mayor to resign and have voiced their dissatisfaction with the leader.

“I don’t believe New York City is going to survive the remainder of Mayor de Blasio’s term in office,” New York Rep. Lee Zeldin, a Republican, said earlier in July.
