First lady Melania Trump will join her husband on his next trip overseas, her first time leaving the country since she underwent kidney surgery in May, her spokeswoman confirmed to the Washington Examiner.
Trump did not accompany her husband to the G-7 summit in Canada or his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore this month. The first lady has offered little information about her health, though the president said she was unable to fly for one month after her procedure on doctor’s orders.
She has accompanied her husband on several foreign trips — to Europe, eastern Asia and the Middle East — in the past year and a half.
Trump’s communications director Stephanie Grisham said the first lady will join the president on his next trip overseas, but did not clarify whether she’ll be at her husband’s side for the entirety of the trip.
President Trump will travel to Brussels to attend a NATO meeting scheduled for July 11-12, followed by a visit to the U.K. on July 13. The White House announced Thursday that the president will also hold his first bilateral summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 16 in Helsinki, Finland.
