On the 75th anniversary of D-Day, President Trump gave thanks to veterans of the allied forces who gave their lives to defend freedom around the world that day.
“To all of our friends and partners — our cherished alliance was forged in the heat of battle, tested in the trials of war, and proven in the blessings of peace,” Trump said. “Our bond is unbreakable.”
Trump is in northern France to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
His visit comes on the tail end of a three-day trip to Europe that included his first official state visit to the United Kingdom and press conference with Prime Minister Theresa May.
During his speech Thursday morning, Trump described the Americans who landed on the beaches of Normandy in June of 1944 as “some of the greatest American heroes who will ever live.”
