Omaha company fires employee for unruly behavior on a Delta flight

The Omaha-based construction software company Buildertrend fired an employee on Wednesday following the delay of a Delta Air Lines flight on Monday due to unruly and allegedly racist behavior by a passenger.

A Buildertrend review found that an employee called a flight attendant the N-word when being asked to put on a face mask in preparation for takeoff. The flight was delayed more than two hours.

Buildertrend CEO Dan Houghton apologized for the disturbance and said an investigation “with internal and external parties to learn as much as possible so that we can take appropriate action” led to the termination of one employee.

“We sincerely apologize to the passengers and employees of Delta Air Lines; to our employees and customers; our partners in business and philanthropy; and to the communities we serve,” Houghton said in a statement.
