It’s 2021, and Democrats can’t let go of slavery.
The New York City Council voted to remove a statue from its council chambers in an absolutely absurd move. Nowadays, such things have become common fodder for politicians, and the New York City Council has jumped on this bandwagon. Except, in this case, the statue was different. The statue did not have anything to do with European exploration. The statue was not of a Confederate soldier. This statue was of Founding Father Thomas Jefferson. It was removed because Jefferson owned slaves — over 200 years ago.
Even after 150 years since it ended, Democrats continue to weaponize slavery for their own political agendas. According to the New York Times, “some Black and Latino Council members, citing Jefferson’s history as a slaveholder, called for the statue to be banished — a push that gained significant momentum in the last year, as the nation has broadly reconsidered public monuments that can be viewed as symbols of systemic racism.” Slavery, of course, was a standard system during Jefferson’s time, with both wealthy white and black men owning slaves. However, Democrats have weaponized the institution to denigrate white men in our country’s history.
“Jefferson embodies some of the most shameful parts of our country’s history,” Adrienne Adams, a councilwoman from Queens and co-chairwoman of the caucus, said at the hearing.
The most recent call for the removal of statues began several years ago, starting with Confederate soldiers from the Civil War. In true totalitarian fashion, proponents stated they only wanted such statues removed because it was a painful reminder of slavery which was unfair to black people. Others argued that while they did not support the removal of statues, they felt that removing those who rebelled against the country was a good idea (looking at you Cabot Phillips).
Yet, any intelligent person who studied leftist totalitarians, or anyone who ever read George Orwell’s Animal Farm, realized this was the beginning of a more significant movement to delegitimize the United States and its history. That is now why there are statues of Jefferson — and other Founding Fathers — being removed in addition to Confederate soldiers. It was never about Confederate soldiers or racism. This was just said to evoke white guilt and make white people feel bad, so those supporting statue removals could get what they wanted.
It is irrelevant if any of our country’s founders owned slaves in the 18th or 19th centuries. Arguing otherwise is nothing more than revisionist history. It is meant to sow division within the population and destroy American confidence. It is used to condemn the U.S. for failing to uphold a romanticized standard of humanity that no country or civilization has ever achieved. Anyone acquiescing to such demands is a coward enabling radical, toxic, leftist beliefs to become legitimized in mainstream society.
