A leading congressional voice on the far-left is criticizing governors who have yet to declare quarantine protocols for their residents, claiming the state officials were “in denial” about the coronavirus pandemic.
In a tweet that shared a highlighted map showing areas of the country that have imposed “shelter-in-place” measures, Rep. Rashida Tlaib lauded the efforts of 18 states that have already adopted standards to protect residents from the spread of the COVID-19 virus before turning her ire toward those who have yet to act.
“The Govenors in these states are most likely listening to doctors, scientist and health professionals,” the Michigan Democrat tweeted on Tuesday morning. “The other ones are either in denial or focused too much on the economy rather than human life.”

New York, California, and Illinois were among the first states to declare “shelter-in-place” orders designed to mitigate contact between people who could unknowingly spread the highly-contagious disease.
Tlaib, a member of “the Squad,” has been critical of many of the steps President Trump has taken since declaring a national emergency on March 13. In mid-March, she shared a Twitter post slamming the president’s call for a National Day of Prayer on Sunday, March 15.
On Saturday, Tlaib proposed minting two $1 trillion platinum coins that would be used to finance debt taken on by U.S. citizens during the coronavirus outbreak.
