ABC’s The View host Meghan McCain bemoaned that President Trump’s attacks on Hunter Biden had hurt Joe Biden in the polls for the Democratic presidential primary.
“This is breaking my heart. It’s breaking my heart all day long,” the host said Tuesday on the show during a discussion about Hunter Biden’s interview with ABC. “I love Joe Biden. I love his family. Hunter Biden has had a lot of issues that he struggled with for a long time. You know what’s also breaking my heart, some of these polls numbers. Elizabeth Warren is leading in a CBS/YouGov poll 32-24% in New Hampshire. So, she’s going to take these opportunities.”
Biden, 76, had been the clear front-runner since he entered the Democratic presidential primary race in April, but Warren recently caught up with him and is leading in the first-voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire.
McCain, 34, has made clear that Biden is her favorite candidate, saying in July that she loved him “in a way that I loved my father.” She said it would be “tough” for her to remain neutral in the 2020 presidential election if Biden is the nominee.
The Washington Examiner reported in April that sources close to the McCain family said the McCain’s plan on offering public support to Biden.
