Sen. Cory Gardner: The Senate should expel Roy Moore if he wins his race

Several Republicans have now called on Roy Moore to drop out of Alabama’s race for U.S. Senate, including Senate majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

But Cory Gardner, R-Colo., the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, took it another step, advocating that if Moore does in the Senate should expel him — or more likely, refuse to seat him. Here’s his statement, which came over the wire just moments ago:

“I believe the individuals speaking out against Roy Moore spoke with courage and truth, proving he is unfit to serve in the United States Senate and he should not run for office. If he refuses to withdraw and wins, the Senate should vote to expel him, because he does not meet the ethical and moral requirements of the United States Senate.”
