New Hampshire voters reject Biden second term, diss Trump try too

Voters in New Hampshire, which hosts the first presidential primary every election year, have seen enough of President Joe Biden to conclude that they do not want him to run for reelection.

According to a new University of New Hampshire survey, which included many more 2020 Biden voters than those who supported former President Donald Trump, 55% said that they do not want Biden to run again.

And, said the Granite State Poll, his support among Democrats for a second term is lackluster. “Importantly, only 64% of Democrats would like Biden to run again in 2024 while 18% do not want him to run and another 17% are unsure,” read the survey report.

Biden’s approval rating in the state that plays an outsize role in every presidential primary season has been trending similar to national polls, a potential warning sign for the Democrat who once signaled that he would serve only one term.

On his Inauguration Day, Biden had a 55% approval rate among New Hampshire voters. Today, it is 51%.

And while they are not eager for another Biden term, New Hampshire voters are even less welcoming of another try by Trump.

The poll found that 69% do not want Trump to run again. Just 59% of Republicans want the former president to run again, down from 66% just last month.

A report on the poll on WMUR’s website sized the attitude of voters up this way: “Support for President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump running again is weak even among people who identify with each man’s own political party.”
