Iowa set to host a frenzy of 2024 Republican presidential campaign activity

The first wisps of cold prairie wind will blow through Iowa in October, accompanied by a swarm of 2024 Republican presidential candidates.

Democrats have banished the Hawkeye State from their early voting calendar. Though it doesn’t much matter, with President Joe Biden facing only token primary opposition from new age author Marianne Williamson and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the political scion whose conspiracy theory ramblings range from COVID-19 vaccines to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The GOP primary field, however, is quite active in Iowa ahead of the state’s Jan. 15, 2024, caucuses, which will begin the party’s nominating process. Former President Donald Trump, the field leader, dips into Iowa for events from time to time.

Would-be Trump rivals are much more active there with campaign events, like Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Same with Republican hopefuls Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND) and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a onetime Trump booster who has since spurned the 2017-21 White House occupant.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, a Trump administration U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, is also looking for an Iowa caucuses win, or at least a strong showing, in three months plus. So are former Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).

Here are coming events that Republican presidential candidates have committed to attending in Iowa, along with the early voting states of Nevada and New Hampshire, or are likely to draw 2024 hopefuls, who need to meet voters and generate new fundraising opportunities.
