First daughter Ivanka Trump on Thursday trashed an investigation into claims the Trump Organization worked with the 2017 Inaugural Committee to jack up Trump International Hotel rates so her family could get rich.
“This week I spent 5+ hours in a deposition with the Democrat D.C. AGs office where they questioned the rates charged by the Trump Hotel at the inauguration,” she said on social media.
“I shared with them an email from 4 years ago where I sent instructions to the hotel to charge ‘a fair market rate’ which the hotel did,” she said, showing the email.

“This ‘inquiry’ is another politically motivated demonstration of vindictiveness & waste of taxpayer dollars,” she added.
Ivanka Trump was a key figure in the transformation of the hotel, the inauguration, and the administration.
In a suit, D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine claimed the hotel and Trump inaugural team worked to pay exorbitant fees to give the hotel bigger profits. Trump’s statement clearly suggests she rejected those charges.
The family and hotel have been under fire from the first day the president walked down Pennsylvania Avenue, past his hotel, and into the White House. Critics have charged that too many groups have felt compelled to stay there and that the family used the hotel too many times at taxpayer expense.
But it also became the unofficial headquarters of Team Trump, often the site of pro-Trump book signings, parties, and events.
