WATCH: Dana Carvey dons the John Bolton mustache in ‘Late Show’ sketch with Stephen Colbert

Saturday Night Live” alumnus Dana Carvey skewered incoming national security adviser John Bolton in an impersonation that aired Wednesday on Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show” on CBS.

Colbert introduced Carvey’s Bolton, who sported a bushy mustache and wig, by explaining that he was there to “refute” the idea that he’s an “unstable warmonger.”

“It’s very important for me that nobody thinks President Trump has handed the keys to the war machine to some sort of hair-trigger lunatic,” Carvey said, appearing to be laughing off the accusations.

“Because if I heard someone say that I’d blow ‘em up quick!” he shouted, proceeded by his impersonation of gunshot noises.

President Trump’s appointment of Bolton to the post has drawn a lot of backlash because of his hawkish views and previous gig as a Fox News pundit.

Trump announced last week that Bolton, also a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, would start his new job on April 9.
