A Washington Examiner commentary writer noted President Joe Biden’s double standard on COVID-19 policy amid his administration’s plans to end Title 42, the emergency public health rule that has permitted the United States to turn away migrants because of the pandemic, in May.
Tiana Lowe told Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo on Thursday that the Biden administration’s goal of raising vaccination numbers contradicts allowing more border crossings.
“It doesn’t fit their main goal,” Lowe said. “Why the heck are we saying remove Title 42 at the border where there’s an actual crisis going on?”
Lowe noted the Department of Homeland Security estimates 18,000 people will cross the U.S. southern border on a daily basis if Title 42 is ended, meaning half a million people in one month.
Given the established exemptions to Title 42 for asylum-seekers, Lowe said the primary concern with eliminating Title 42 is that it makes it much easier for those on terror watch lists to cross the border.

“This is not about unaccompanied children, saving the mom and the kids,” Lowe said. “This is really just about letting in single lone adults, and that is a legitimate security risk.”
Bartiromo also asked Lowe about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention working too closely with teachers unions when establishing COVID-19 protocols for reopening schools.

Lowe predicted parents have wisened up to the tactics, noting that polling shows 4 out of 5 Democratic parents say mask mandates were useless or harmful to their children.
“Outsourcing policy to the CDC so they can just get a rubber stamp on whatever the teachers union wanted under the guise of public health — those will have electoral consequences,” Lowe said. “Parents will become the most important constituency in these issues.”
