Trump says cruise ships could be available to help with coronavirus relief

President Trump said he spoke with the chairman of the Carnival Cruise Line, who said he would make the company’s ships available for coronavirus relief.

“I spoke with Micky Arison of Carnival Cruise Line. He’s going to make ships available. So, in addition to the big medical ships that you have coming, if we should need ships, lots of rooms, they’ll be docked in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, different places,” the president said during a press conference Thursday.

Trump did not specifically say that the ships would be used as hospitals but said they could be used to “increase places to stay.”

The cruise line has suspended its services until at least April 9.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Carnival for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
