NBC uses MSNBC-identified Biden supporters as ‘undecided’ for townhall

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden participated in an NBC town hall last week where he was asked questions from “undecided” voters — although that political identification contradicts a previous report from the host’s sister outlet MSNBC.

Peter Gonzalez and Ismael Llano asked Biden questions at the Miami town hall Monday, which was hosted by Lester Holt, as part of an “audience of undecided Florida voters.”

But the two men were previously featured in an MSNBC segment in August, in which they both expressed their support for the former vice president, which was first reported by the Washington Free Beacon on Tuesday.

“If we get four more years of Trump, good luck, and good luck with the future attracting younger voters,” Gonzalez said while the chyron stated that he is planning on “voting for Biden.” Llano, whom Holt said had “voted for Hillary Clinton four years ago but has voted Republican in the past,” was also identified as an “independent voting for Biden” and offered praise for the former vice president.

Llano, in the same segment where Gonzalez praised Biden back in August, added, “Something that Joe Biden said during his speech that resonated with me was what defines America is a possibility.”

Other people at the town hall also had social media posts that show a preference for the former vice president.

NBC did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
