Jury has reached verdict in sentencing for Parkland school shooter

A verdict has been reached on whether or not to recommend that Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz should receive the death penalty for the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that left 17 dead.

The ruling was not automatically released on the second day of jury deliberation. If the jury recommends the death penalty, it will fall to Judge Elizabeth Scherer to make the final decision. The other sentence is life in prison.

The decision will put an end to the three-month trial that was filled with several graphic videos, photos, and testimony from the shooting and the aftermath, a tour of the building, and testimony from many family members.
