Democratic Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal said Tuesday that Congress doesn’t have to choose between investigating Ivanka Trump’s emails and focusing on getting policy passed.
“We can do both,” Blumenthal told CNN when asked if he would focus on the issues before looking to investigate the Trump administration, in particular Ivanka’s private emails. “Accountability and progress on the issues is not incompatible.”

According to a Monday report, Ivanka Trump used a private email account to communicate about government-related issues with White House aides, Cabinet officials, among others.
The account’s domain was shared with her husband and senior adviser to the president Jared Kushner.
Hundreds of emails were sent from the account, and many of the emails during a large portion of 2017 broke federal records rules, people familiar with the examination of her correspondence told the Washington Post.
Democrats made it clear during the 2018 midterm campaign, that if they were to gain back a majority in Congress, they would immediately launch several investigations into the Trump administration, and Blumenthal’s comments indicate Ivanka Trump’s emails would be added to the list.
