WATCH: Mickey Rourke has ‘no respect’ for Tom Cruise’s talent

Tom Cruise can’t please everyone.

Despite Top Gun: Maverick’s recent box-office success, actor Mickey Rourke is calling Cruise “irrelevant.”

“The guy’s been doing the same effing part for 35 years,” Rourke told Piers Morgan Uncensored. “I got no respect for that.”

The Sin City actor also slammed Cruise’s acting skills.


“I don’t care about money and power,” Rourke said. “I care about, when I watch Al Pacino work and [Christopher] Walken and [Robert] De Niro’s early work and Richard Harris’s work and Ray Winstone’s work, that’s the kind of actor I want to be like — [Montgomery] Clift and [Marlon] Brando back in the day.”

Morgan pressed Rourke to say whether Cruise is a good actor.

“I think he’s irrelevant, in my world,” Rourke replied.

In the seven weekends since its release, the Top Gun sequel has grossed $1.1 billion worldwide, becoming one of only two films to hit such earnings since the start of the pandemic.
