Rudy Giuliani: Michael Cohen said he didn’t get reimbursed to protect Trump’s family

Rudy Giuliani said Thursday he believes Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen said he was not reimbursed by Trump for the $130,000 he paid to former porn star Stormy Daniels because he was “trying to help the family.”

Giuliani, the former New York mayor who is now on Trump’s legal team, stressed that Cohen was most definitely reimbursed the money he paid to Daniels, and that he is being treated like a “villain” when he was being a “good lawyer” and “good man” to Trump.

“I think he was trying to help the family. For that, the man is being treated like some kind of villain and I think he was being a good lawyer, a good man,” Giuliani told Fox News on Thursday morning.

He also confirmed what the president tweeted Thursday morning, that the financial contribution had nothing to do with the presidential campaign, because the reimbursement happened after the campaign ended. Cohen made the payment to Daniels just weeks before the end of the campaign.

“It wasn’t for the campaign. It was to save their marriage as much as their reputation,” Giuliani said.
