Paul Ryan: ‘I’m not worried about Bob Mueller’ getting thwarted in probe

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., insisted Thursday that President Trump will not interfere with Robert Mueller’s ongoing investigation, saying the special counsel will be left alone to complete his probe.

“Bob Mueller has been left alone,” Ryan told the Washington Post Thursday morning in a live appearance during his last weeks in office. “I think he’s going to continue to be left alone. He’s going to finish his job whenever that is, and he will be able to do his job, as he should, in its full.”

When pressed multiple times by the Post’s Paul Kane, Ryan declined to divulge conversations with the president that led him to that conclusion, in the wake of the firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions earlier this month and FBI Director James Comey last year.

“If I was really, really stressed about Bob Mueller, I’d do something. I’m not worried about Bob Mueller,” Ryan said.
