Trump expects new Middle East peace plan within four months

President Trump said Wednesday that his administration is preparing to propose a plan to resolve the seven-decade political conflict between the Israeli government and Palestinians.

Trump said he expects to have a peace plan prepared in the next “two to three to four months.”

“We’re working along on that,” Trump said during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

“I really believe something will happen. It is a dream of mine to be able to get that done prior to the end of my first term,” Trump said.

“I like two-state solution,” Trump added. “That’s what I think works best.”

Trump’s son-in-law and presidential adviser Jared Kushner has led his administration’s work on a Middle East peace plan. Kushner is Jewish, but has built relationships with regional leaders, including Saudi crown prince Muhammad bin Salman, who said this year that “Palestinians and the Israelis have the right to have their own land,” an apparent first for an Arab leader.
