D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics Chairman West will resign, city officials confirmed to The Washington Examiner. West stepped into the role on short notice in July 2010 when the board’s previous chairman stepped down just weeks before the September Democratic primary. West could not immediately be reached Monday afternoon. An official in the Vince Gray administration who confirmed West’s departure said it was West’s decision and not the mayor’s, who will now have to find a replacement. Last month, board of elections director Rokey Suleman unexpectedly resigned.
