Melania Trump reunites with child who gave her necklace on Valentine’s Day

BETHESDA, Maryland — First lady Melania Trump spent Valentine’s Day morning with several children, including a Kenyan boy who gifted her a necklace last year.

The president’s wife visited the Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health on Friday to make valentines-themed crafts with patients and their siblings.

When Trump greeted 14-year-old Amani Kadu, she complimented his shirt and tie after giving him a hug.

“You look so sharp! I love your tie,” Trump said.

Last year, Kadu gave Trump a silver necklace inscribed with “faith” and “hope.” Kadu had a bracelet to match the necklace he gave Trump.

“You look very strong. You look fantastic,” Trump told Kadu, who was born with sickle cell disease and had a bone marrow transplant.

Kadu’s 9-year-old sister Amana, who also met the first lady, donated bone marrow and Kadu has since been cured of sickle cell disease.

It is Trump’s third year visiting sick children on the holiday. She brought the children cards and decorated cookies and heart wreaths with them.
