Fox News guest Frank Luntz said he believed action needs to be taken against Washington Nationals fans who booed President Trump during his appearance at Game 5 of the World Series.
“That was the same thing as Hillary Clinton declaring that half of America were deplorables,” Luntz, who is a Republican political consultant, said Monday night on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle. Host Laura Ingraham had just played a clip from CNN, in which historian Tim Naftali said Trump was getting booed from trying “to destroy being presidential.”
“The fact is, they should hold those fans accountable,” Luntz said. “You don’t boo the president. You may disagree with him, you may think that he’s not what you wanted, but you don’t boo him. You show respect to him. Now, I’ll tell you something, I think this event is going to have an impact.”
Ingraham agreed and said she thought it was “a great moment” for Trump to be booed and been seen as a D.C. outsider.
Fans booed Trump and chanted, “Lock him up!” Sunday during the game. The president did not throw the first pitch at the game.
