AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Investigators say a body found in a Central Texas cornfield has been identified as an 87-year-old man reported missing by his family.
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday said autopsy results are pending on Antonio Barboa Perea (puh’-RAY’-uh) but there’s no evidence of foul play.
Searchers on Monday afternoon located Perea’s body in a field near Austin.
Volunteers helped search for Perea, who turned up missing Sunday morning. Authorities say the elderly man suffered from dementia and apparently walked away from his family’s home.
