Actor Pierce Brosnan received two federal citations as a result of his recent trip to Yellowstone National Park due to an alleged trespassing incident.
Brosnan, 70, visited the Mammoth Hot Springs on Nov. 1 and crossed over into an off-limits area, according to the citations. At that point in the season, most roads leading into Yellowstone are closed for the winter. The northeast entrance in Cooke City/Silver Gate, Montana, was among the few open roads that lead to the hot springs on the border between Montana and Wyoming.

Mammoth has roughly 50 hot springs, among them the Old Faithful Geyser, spread out across its two boardwalks that visitors can traverse to observe the limestone springs. The scalding water can be treacherous for anyone who wanders off the boardwalks.
The Washington Examiner reached out to Yellowstone and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Wyoming for further comment.
As an Irish actor, Brosnan is known for his roles in James Bond films, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Mamma Mia, among others. Brosnan most recently had the lead role in the 2023 film Fast Charlie. According to the U.S. attorney’s office for Wyoming, he was not at the park for work but on a personal trip.

The last time visitors were cited for trespassing within the Mammoth Hot Springs was in 2019 when two men were sentenced to 10 days of incarceration, $540 in restitution, five years of unsupervised probation, and a five-year ban from Yellowstone. U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Carman sentenced them at the Yellowstone Justice Center after guilty pleas from each.
Brosnan is next due in the park’s court on Jan. 23.
