Mark Zuckerberg admits his personal data was sold to ‘malicious third parties’

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed Wednesday his data was among the personal information exposed as part of the Cambridge Analytica data breach.

During questioning from Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Calif., who represents Silicon Valley in Congress, the Facebook founder and chief was asked whether his “personal data” was sold to the “malicious third parties.”

“Yes,” Zuckerberg responded.


The Facebook CEO is testifying for the second day on Capitol Hill about the social media company’s use of consumer data.

The hearing before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday arose after it was revealed the Facebook information of 87 million consumers was shared with Cambridge Analytica.

Cambridge Analytica worked on behalf of the Trump campaign and reportedly used the harvested information to influence voters ahead of the 2016 election.
