Celebrity chefs, Planned Parenthood, and transgender service members on Pelosi guest list for Trump speech

Celebrity chef Jose Andres, Planned Parenthood President Leana Wen, and two transgender members of the military will be among Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s guests at Tuesday night’s State of the Union address.

Pelosi’s has invited more than two dozen guests, including husband Paul and daughter Alexandra.

Andres and another celebrity chef, Tyler Florence, who was also invited to the speech, provided free meals to those who lost their homes in the recent California wildfires. Andres also provided food to workers furloughed during the recent government shutdown.

Pelosi’s guest list includes two transgender military service members, Army Capt. Jennifer Peace, and Army Maj. Ian Brown, as well as Democratic National Commitee Chairman Tom Perez and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Pelosi invited a group of gun control advocates, including Fred Guttenberg, father of Jaime Guttenberg, who was killed in the Parkland, Fla., shooting; Charlie Mirsky, co-founder & political director of March For Our Lives; and Mattie Scott of the Brady Campaign.

Others on the guest list include New Jersey Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver and New Jersey State Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg.

Union officials on her list include National Education Association President Lily Eskelsen Garcia, United Steelworkers President Leo Gerard, Service Employees International Union President Mary Kay Henry, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America President Doug McCarron, and American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations President Richard Trumka.
