As sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, Social Justice Warriors (SJW) on college campuses will make ridiculous demands to equalize those systematically oppressed by the phantom menace of racism.
Mic reported that a student group at Columbia University called Mobilized African Diaspora or MAD has demanded that the school get serious about paying back the debts owed to black students because of institutionalized racism.
MAD described itself in a statement to Mic as a “organized to dismantle and restructure the racist university framework.”
The campus protestors have demanded eliminating tuition, increasing student wages to $15 an hour, increasing the hiring of minorities, increasing the admission rates of black and low-income students of color, repairing the damage to low-income neighborhoods that were gentrified when the school expanded, and changing the school’s sexual assault-related resources.
Oh is that all?
“The ways that Columbia funds injustice off campus are tied up with the ways that it mistreats and exploits its own students, using marginalized students as props for diversity, while underpaying them for crucial labor and failing to invest in them,” said Caroline Lee, a student activist, to Mic.
No one seemed to ask these student activists: how it is just to increase minority enrollment by lowering standards for certain races? Is it less demeaning for a person to be accepted into a prestigious university solely based on skin color than for a person to be denied regardless of race or income?
Those questions are something liberal students should answer if they would ever come out of their safe spaces.
